Let's activate your SmartLess plan

Ready to switch to SmartLess? Here's a few tips and what you can expect for a smooth activation.

A few tips before we get started

  • Don’t cancel your current service

    Transferring your number? Keep your current carrier's plan active until your SmartLess Mobile activation is complete.

  • Have your account info handy

    You'll need your account number and transfer (porting) PIN for the carrier you're transferring your number from. Need a new number instead? We'll get that setup for you.

  • Get your phone ready

    Your phone needs to be unlocked in order to work on SmartLess Mobile. Now would be a good time to double check if you're unsure. If it's locked, your previous carrier should be able to help.

  • Hop on WiFi

    Ensure your phone is connected to WiFi for the entire activation process, especially if you selected an eSIM for your device.

Here's what happens next

If you ordered a SIM kit, only follow these steps once it has arrived. Tracking information is available in MyAccount.  If you selected eSIM for your device, you can get started right away!

  • Log in to MyAccount to activate your plan

    Head over to MyAccount, log in and look for the banner indicating that your SmartLess Mobile plan is ready for activation.  Select "Start activation" to get started. Select the plan you'd like to activate.  Don't worry, you don't have to do them all at once.

  • Provide a few details

    If you're new to SmartLess Mobile, we'll ask you to setup a 6-digit account PIN. You'll want to make sure this is number that you can easily remember but that is not easy to guess.  If you need to contact us for support, we'll need this PIN to verify your identity.  

     

    We'll also ask you to setup an E911 address for each line. You'll want to enter an address where you are most commonly, as the E911 address allows emergency services to determine the location of your device, in the event it's used to call 911. Learn more.

  • Select a SIM Card? We'll ask for that next. Go digital with an eSIM? We'll take care of that a little later.

    If you selected a SIM card (also known as a SIM Kit) for your device, we'll ask for the 19-digit number (exclude the letter at the end of the number) on the back of it now.  If you selected an eSIM, you'll skip this step and we'll get things setup a little later.

  • Transfer your number or get a new one

    Bringing your phone number to SmartLess Mobile?  No problem, just make sure that you have the account number and porting PIN from your current carrier and we'll take care of the rest.  Looking for a new number? We can help with that too.  We'll ask for your preferred area and get a new number assigned to you.

     

    To bring the device you love to SmartLess Mobile, it must be unlocked. Don't worry, we provide tips to check again if you're unsure.

  • New number? You're ready to go! Transferring a number? Just a couple more steps.

    If you choose a new number, you can now insert your SIM card to your device, or proceed with eSIM download when prompted.

     

    If you're transferring a number, we'll need a little time to complete the request (usually less than 3 hours).  Once it has transferred, we'll send you an email.  At that time, you can put your SIM card in your phone, or return to MyAccount in the app or on our website to download your eSIM.

  • Welcome to SmartLess Mobile!

    Everything is ready to go!  The easiest place to manage your subscription is with our app.  From the comfort of your couch you can buy travel passes, change your plan, check your usage and customize your plan with add-ons.  Apps not your thing?  You can also manage everything on our website by logging into MyAccount.

How do I activate SmartLess Mobile service?

Just follow the prompts in the app or on our site. You’ll pick your plan, enter your info, and activate using eSIM (instant) or SIM card (we’ll ship it).

When does my SmartLess Mobile service start?

Your service kicks in as soon as you finish activation. Until then, your current provider’s still running the show.

Do I need the app to activate my service?

You don’t have to… but it’s the fastest, smoothest way to get started. No paperclip SIM swaps, no guessing.

Can I keep my number?

Yes you can. We’ll ask during activation if you want a new number or to keep yours.
